Are we starting to see the decline in Phil Mickelson’s professional golfing career. Mickelson is going to miss the cut at the 2014 Massters. The projected cut is plus 4 and Phil is at plus 6 with just 2 holes left to play in his second round. Mickelson is going to have to make birdies on 2 of the toughest holes at Augusta, if he is hoping to be around for the weekend.
Phil is off to a terrible start to his 2014 season. Missing the cut at Augusta, has to be tearing the heart out of Phil’s chest. He loves the rich history of the Masters and he always enjoys taking part in the season’s first major. Mickelson is a three-time winner of the Masters and he said he played well after posting a 76 in his opening round.
Phil, isn’t playing well, and he hasn’t really played well all year. Ever since he hurt his back earlier in the 2014 season, Phil has struggled.
At the age of 43, we have to wonder how many more years Phil will be competitive on the PGA tour. Not having Mickelson around on the weekend in Augusta, isn’t what the fans expected. Mickelson has always risen to the challenge of playing at Augusta, and this year it doesn’t seem as though he was physically able to do so.
Phil did make a birdie at the 17th and he has to to 5 under par which is right on the cut line. He has to make a birdie on the 18th if he is going to make the cut. He made par on the 18th and won’t be around playing at Augusta to finish this years Masters.
