Former Buffalo Bill and Pro Football Hall Of Fame running back O.J. Simpson, will be back in a Las Vegas courthouse on Monday. Simpson is having a hearing to see if he can offer enough evidence to call for a new trial. Simpson who have been in prison for the last 4 years, is claiming his attorney botched the case that sent him to prison for up to 33 years.
O.J. is claiming that he went over his plan, to reclaim his sports memorabilia and was told that he was within his legal rights to do so. Simpson will take the stand to try to convince to the court that the lawyer he paid $700,00.00 to, botched the case.
Simpson who is now 65 years old, is not the same guy we can remember running through all those airports in his Hertz commercials. Reportedly he is walking with a terrible limb due to all his earlier knee injuries and graying something terrible.
O.J. will be in Clark County District Court beginning Monday for the entire five-day hearing. He could take to the witness stand as soon as Wednesday. If the court does find evidence to grant Simpson a new trial, the prosecution could decide to forego another trial. The expense could be something they want to avoid.
It is a long shot, but O.J. could become a free man if he is granted a new trial and the state decides not to pursue it. I wonder if the Vegas odds makers are setting odds on this? I wouldn’t bet on it though.
