Dwayne Bowe the Kansas City Chiefs receiver who was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, released a short statement today. He offered an apology to the Chiefs, the Hunt family and most of all to the Chiefs fans for any distractions he may have caused this week.

The Chiefs play the Broncos this Sunday and they are at risk of their winning streak being snapped by Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos. This is the biggest game of the season for the Chiefs and Bowe will be allowed to play. Bowe said because of the nature of the charges, he couldn’t say much.

He did want to let the fans and his teammate and the team owners know he was sorry. Bowe is a key figure in the Chiefs offense and he is going to be needed this week.

In the 9 games Bowe has played in this season he has recorded 33 catches for 360 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has an 11.2 yard per catch average and is a big target for Alex Smith. Bowe has been a Chief since 2007 and has played in 97 games and started in 91 of them.

His best year as a Chief came in 2010 when he had 72 catches for 1162 yards and scored 15 touchdowns. This is a guy you want in your offense when you’re playing an opponent like the Broncos.

Bowe released the single page statement earlier today. It will be interesting to see what kind of action the Chiefs and the NFL take against Bowe.
