The NFL handed referee Roy Ellison a one game suspension and he will not be paid, after their investigation sided with Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams. The NFL investigation led to this decision and there was a time when Williams didn’t think the NFL would take any action again the Referee.
Ellison had no right talking to Williams the way he did. He is lucky to still have a job in the NFL and other refs better use caution now that the league has set a president. As of Wednesday, Williams hadn’t heard anything from the league. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he did.
He was in contact with, Vice President of Officiating, Dean Blandino. Williams claimed that Ellison called him a “garbage-ass, disrespectful mutherf–ker.”
It’s good see the NFL is taking some action against Ellison and it was also good to see Williams didn’t take any action into his own hands when the incident occurred. Otherwise it would be Trent serving a suspension and something tells us it would have been more than just one game.
Now Williams can get to the business of playing NFL football. And stop worrying about the NFL playing favorites…. The Washington Redskins need some wins….
