For the second time this season the Cleveland Browns defensive back Tashaun Gipson has been involved in a hit that left a player injured on the field. Gipson is a hard hitting defensive back that plays the game the way it should be played. He is like having your own Ronnie Lott in the defensive back field.

Some are question the hit he put on Green Bay’s Jermichael Finley that forced him to spend the night in a ICU unit. Some are saying it was a helmet to helmet hit. Who ever is making those statements must not have seen the game. Gipson clearly avoided helmet to helmet contact.

He led with his shoulder the way they teach you from the beginning of your football career. There was nothing dirty about the hit and there is no reason to label Gipson a dirty player. It has been a long time since the Browns have had a player who intimidates  on their defense.

This is what Gipson brings to the field, he can intimidate the receivers and make them think twice when they know he is covering them. If Gipson puts a good clean hit in someone trying to make a play, he is going to get in their head and make it harder for them to keep their concentration the next time they try to make the play.

The Browns have needed a player of Gipson’s caliber for years. It is nice to see they finally have someone who can bring that intimidation factor to the football field. Gipson is an old school hard hitter that plays the game the way it was meant to be played. Nothing more, nothing less.

He lead with the crown of his helmet and did not look at his target, that is called launching yourself like a missile if that is a clean play they will be carting players off the field on every play.
