The performance of Indians closer Chris Perez has fans upset back in Cleveland. One fan made the comment about a strange package showing up on the doorstep at the home of Perez. This package may not be so nice. Fans are left wondering if Perez is performing this way to try and tank the Tribes chances of a play off appearance.
They don’t remember seeing Perez perform this poorly for this long. He darn neat blew the game in Cleveland the other night and if Giambi didn’t hit the walk off home run the team would have lost. Then there was last nights performance. This one takes the cake according to some home town fans.
They can’t understand why Indians manager Terry Francona would continue to bring in Perrez. I think Francona is starting to get it now. Giving up 4 runs in the 9th, isn’t the kind of feeling to build confidence in your closer.
Perez is lucky he did it last night in Minnesota, if he was at Progressive Field and he pitched like that, there is no telling what would have happened.
Perez was good in the role of closer for a few years, but it certainly appears that those years are behind him. The Indians have other options in the Bull-Pen and the fans are strongly suggesting that Francona starts using them. If the Indians make it into the wild card game, they can’t risk sending in Chris Perez.
His day in a Indians uniform have got to be coming to an end.
