Justin Verlander continued his winning ways by beating the Oakland A’s. He is such a great pitcher for the Tigers. When he is scheduled to start, it is almost like a guaranteed win for the team. Verlander pitched 6 innings, he struck out 6,walked 3 and only allowed 3 hits and 1 run to score.

The Tigers needed this win to get back above .500 on the season. At 6-5 they are tied with the Royals for first place in the A.L. Central. Verlander got some run support from his teammates by way of the home-run ball.

Torii Hunter,Prince Fielder and Jhonny Peralta all took A’s pitcher Brett Anderson out of the park. Hunter hit a homer to left in the 3rd inning. Fielder hit one to center in the 4th and Peralta hit one to left in the 4th that drove in 3 runs.

The Tigers are back to playing the kind of baseball they are capable of producing. It is only a matter of time before they start to build a lead in the A.L. Central.
