The New England Patriots have released a statement via twitter that they have released their tight end Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was arrested at 8:47am this morning, the Patriots took less than 2 hours to release the tight end.

The Patriots released a statement that said they feel this is the right thing to do. They said the Patriots send their thoughts out to the family of the victim and with the release of Hernandez, that the team is not standing by the tight end.

This had to come down from the top of the Patriots, Kraft wants nothing to do with a guy that is involved with a homicide. The team made it clear that they don’t want this distraction and they won’t have it when training camp starts.

The team parted ways with Hernandez and currently Hernandez is not part of any NFL team. Other have went through the legal process in the NFL and the team has stuck by them. They weren’t involved in a homicide.

Hernandez will be arraigned later this morning and what charges are field against the former Patriots TE should be revealed then,  with the team releasing him, they must know the charges are going to be very serious.
