It started in 1937, the Washington Redskins have been the Redskins since 1937. It is difficult to understand why a lawmaker would push for the team that has been in existence since 1937 would be  pushed to change its name.  It is time for people to get over it already.  For 75-years this team has been called the Redskins, what is this lawmakers problem?

Council member David Grosso, an at-large independent is saying the name is racist. Come on man, get over yourself. Don’t you have more important things to do with your time as a counsel member other than make racist statements?

Grosso wants the team to change its nickname to the Red-tails.  He says it would bring honor to the Tuskegee Airmen. How about that folks? This guy wants the team to let go of a name that is suppose to be racist and change it to something that others could consider racist.

What is wrong with the name that has been around since 1937? It is time for this country to take a firm stand on this kind of B.S. and tell this guy Grosso to take a break. Is this why he ran for council in the first place? Was his platform a name change for a great football franchise?

There is no way the Washington Redskins should even consider changing their name. None. If they do, this will open up a new can of worms. Leave it alone Grosso.

I agree 100%. It’s a name. There is no slight intended when it is used. Just like ANY word, context is everything.

Now… if someone said “Hey redskin” to a native American? THAT would be offensive.
