The Los Angeles Dodgers may have lost the fight, but they won the game over the San Diego Padres. The bench clearing brawl, that broke Greinke’s collarbone, should not have happen. Major League baseball has to take a hard look at Carlos Quentin charging the mound after being hit by a pitch. This guy makes his living being hit by pitches. He has been hit by 116 pitches in his MLB career.
Some one should teach Quentin how to get out-of-the-way. There was some history between, Quentin and Greinke and it came to a head in last nights game. Greinke has hit Quentin in the past, he has hit him on 3 other occasions.
I say so what, this guy takes a lot of balls to his body, there is no excuse to charge the mound. Now, he knocked Greinke out for probably 6 weeks at the least. The Dodgers are going to be without one of their starting pitchers and the team is going to suffer.
The next time Greinke hits someone with a pitch, he will think before he drops his shoulder into the guy who is charging the mound. It will be interesting to see if Major League Baseball takes any action against Quentin. He should at the very least be suspended for a few games.
If Quentin didn’t charge the mound, this all could have been avoided.
